Castle Gillian co-creator. Musical Director for WICKED, CATS and numerous other shows in the USA and UK. Orchestrator for concerts with Boston Pops, New York Pops, National Centre for the Performing Arts (Kennedy Centre) and others. Proud member of the Recording Academy (Grammy Awards) and the Dramatists Guild.

GM, Creative & Acquisitions, Kobalt Music.
Sue Drew runs the Musical Theater department at Kobalt Music Publishing. Her signings include Pasek & Paul, Jeanine Tesori, David Yazbek, Steven Sater, Stephen Bray, Michael R. Jackson and Barlow & Bear.
Michael A. Kerker

Director of Musical Theatre, American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP).
Michael Kerker has been the Director of Musical Theatre for ASCAP (American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers) since 1990. In addition to coordinating ASCAP’s Musical Theatre Workshop in New York, he works with Disney Theatricals to produce the ASCAP/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop in Los Angeles, (both of which are led by composer/lyricist Stephen Schwartz). Together with Michael Feinstein, Michael Kerker produces a regular series of concerts at Carnegie Hall highlighting the catalogue of both legendary and contemporary songwriters.

Sing Castle Gillian Challenge
1. Introduction
Welcome to the Sing Castle Gillian Challenge (the “Challenge”), presented by Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd. By participating in this Challenge, you agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions. Failure to comply may result in disqualification.
The Challenge is open to persons wishing to showcase their vocal talent with the music of Castle Gillian: An Irish Tale. The competition is intended to foster individual creativity, celebrate performance, and to provide an opportunity to showcase the many incredible and diverse vocal talents around the world to the broader musical theatre industry.
2. Eligibility
- The Challenge is open to individuals of all ages and nationalities.
- Participants below the mandated legal age within their country of residence must have parental or guardian consent to enter.
- Employees, contractors, agents, or representatives of Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd., its affiliates and their immediate family members are ineligible to participate.
- Participants must have access to a camera recording device and an Internet connection.
3. How to Enter
To enter the Challenge, participants must:
- Visit the Castle Gillian Sing-Along Challenge landing page and listen to the available tracks.
- Download a Minus-One (instrumental) Track and the corresponding vocal lead sheet and/or lyric sheet.
- Record your full performance of the selected track.
- Upload a 90-second section of your full performance clip on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube Shorts, or Facebook using the official hashtag #SingCastleGillian and tagging @CastleGillianAnIrishTale.
- To be considered for the Outstanding Performance Category, participants must submit their full recording via a YouTube link, sent directly on the Challenge landing page.
- All submissions must be received before 30 June, 2025. Late entries will not be considered.
4. Submission Requirements
- Performances must feature the participant’s own voice. No AI filters or other electronic manipulation is allowed.
- All submissions must include the Minus-One Track (provided by the Challenge) as the backing track.
- Videos must not contain offensive, obscene, or inappropriate content.
- Participants must retain an original, high-quality version of their submission.
- Multiple entries, per participant, of the same song is not permitted. Any subsequent entries of the same song received will be disregarded and your participation in the Challenge voided.
5. Judging Criteria & Process
Submissions will be reviewed and judged based on the following criteria:
- Vocal Quality & Technique – Accuracy of pitch, tonal quality and overall vocal performance.
- Creativity & Interpretation – Unique style, emotional connection, and artistic expression.
- Stage Presence & Engagement – Energy, charisma, and delivery of the performance.
- Adherence to the Competition Guidelines – Correct backing track, proper hashtag use, and eligibility confirmation.
Judging Panel
The Sing Castle Gillian Challenge will be judged by a panel headed by:
Kevin Purcell – International award-winning musical director (Wicked, CATS) and the composer of Castle Gillian: An Irish Tale;
Michael A. Kerker – ASCAP Vice President of Musical Theatre & Cabaret, USA
Sue Drew – General Manager, Creative & Acquisitions, Kobalt Music, USA
Judges’ Decision
- The judges’ decisions are final in all respects.
- Judges will disqualify any entry that does not meet all the submission requirements.
6. Prizes & Recognition
Winners, runners-up, and outstanding performers will be recognised across our platforms and campaigns, ensuring their talent is not only seen—but remembered.

Tickets to watch Castle Gillian, either via digital access or at an affiliated venue (where available).

Recognition in campaign press releases and promotional content, celebrating their performance and creative contribution.

Select standout performers will be invited to:

Be spotlighted across Castle Gillian digital campaigns, as representatives of the challenge’s most moving, creative, or standout interpretations.
These performers will help shape the legacy of Castle Gillian’s sound—an unforgettable honour.
Runner-Up Prizes
Runners-up will be:
Celebrated across Castle Gillian social media channels, showcasing their submissions to our global audience.
Included in highlight reels and official campaign recap content.
7. Use of Content & Rights
- By entering the Challenge, participants grant Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd. a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide license to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, and display the submitted content in promotional materials, including but not limited to:
- Official websites
- Social media platforms
- Advertising campaigns
- Press releases
- Participants will not receive any monetary or other compensation for the use of their submissions in promotional activities associated with Castle Gillian: An Irish Tale.
8. Publicity & Marketing
- By participating, participants agree to have their name, image, and performance featured in marketing materials.
- Winners may be required to participate in promotional interviews or provide additional media content.
9. Disqualification & Compliance
Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd. reserves the right to disqualify any competition participant for the following reasons, not limited to:
- Submission of a performance that is not original.
- Failure to comply with all submission guidelines (i.e., not uploading a submission by the final deadline of 30 June, 2025).
- Hate speech, offensive content, or discriminatory behaviour.
- Tampering with the Sing Castle Gillian Challenge process (e.g., using fake accounts to generate engagement).
10. Technical Issues & Liability
- Sing Castle Gillian Challenge participants agree to enter at their own risk.
- Quill & Quaver Associates is not responsible for:
- Incomplete or non-received submissions.
- Network outages, server errors, or submission delays.
- Disruptions or cancellation of the Challenge due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e., force majeure, system failures).
- Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd. accepts no liability for damages or losses, real or imagined, incurred by participants’ entries in the Challenge.
11. Modification & Cancellation
Quill & Quaver Associates Pty. Ltd. reserves the right to:
- Modify, extend, or terminate the Challenge at any time due to technical, legal, or operational reasons.
- Amend these Terms & Conditions without prior notice.
12. Data Privacy & Protection
- Participant data (i.e, name, email, submitted videos) will be used only to administer this Challenge.
- Data will not be sold or shared with any third-party, unless otherwise approved in advance by a Challenge participant.
- By submitting content, participants consent to data processing per GDPR (for EU residents) and applicable data protection laws.
13. Governing Law
This Agreement is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia and the parties agree to submit themselves to the courts in that jurisdiction.
